History: Wiki Link! The long and short of it is that she's the 'younger' twin sister of a genius mage/healer who left home with her brother to carry on the legacy of their grandfather who helped to save the world from the last Umbral Calamity. She entered into the main story later than her brother and proceeded to find her way, first as an Arcanist, then as a Red Mage as she grew more confident in her abilities.
Personality:
What does your character act like around strangers? Around friends? Does the way they act tend to match the way they feel on the inside? Why or why not?
Alisaie Leveilleur is a young woman who wears her heart on her sleeve. Whether she knows someone or not, she'll tell you exactly what she's thinks of you and what you're doing or saying to her. She has a powerfully empathetic side at the same time, and she expresses herself as she is, whether she's angry, happy, or hurting. Perhaps most illustrative are her initial introduction and her friendship with the kobold Ga Bu.
Alisaie's first appearance in the game is a brief one. She's travels with her brother, Alphinaud, and joins him to watch the leaders of Eorzea give speeches in remembrance of the Calamity and those who saved Eorzea. Or that's what they're meant to be doing. She later retires to the inn where she rows with Alphinaud about what the leaders were actually doing. She's frustrated and disgusted with them. She snaps, calling the leaders 'despots who rewrite history for their convenience.' They weren't remembering what really happened, they didn't even mention the Warriors of Light, the heroes who died to save everyone. Among the dead were her own grandfather. The leaders, to her ears, were just rallying their troops for war with Garlemald. While Alphinaud is content to play politics, Alisaie makes it clear she is not going to treat any of this like a game. She will find another way to help, one that doesn't involve the Grand Companies of Eorzea and their warmongering leaders. She storms out, leaving the main story for the entirety of a Realm Reborn (the base game) and much of Heavensward (the first expansion). Alisaie is the daughter of a diplomat who watched her father talk his way in circles around people... and then watched her brother take that path, learning to speak with a silver tongue. She has no interest in that and only wants people to speak plainly and honestly without all the tip-toeing one needs to do to please those who, in her mind, do not warrant it. While she can put on her diplomacy hat, it's one that's ill-fitted to her.
Once Alisaie returns to the story, she assists the Scions and eventually takes part in a mission to prevent one of the kobold patriarchs from summoning their primal (god) Titan. In that mission, she meets a young kobold named Ga Bu. He is worried about his parents who are meant to be sacrifices that will help to summon Titan. Alisaie takes an immediate interest in Ga Bu, rather than a suspicion. This is someone she doesn't know, but finding out they're in need of help and unable to help themselves, she feels compelled to reach out to offer assistance and kindness. Ga Bu ends up witnessing the death of his parents and falls into despair, summoning Titan, himself, by accident. He's left in a wholly catatonic state after this incident, but Alisaie begs everyone not to kill Ga Bu (the 'cure' for those who are tempered by gods, as it's a process that's known to be irreversible at that time). Because of her assistance, one of the Grand Companies agrees to keep the child and she spends time visiting him, talking to him, even when he doesn't respond. Alisaie never forgets Ga Bu, and she returns to him when she and the Scions eventually develop a cure for tempering. Alisaie burns her acquaintances and allies into her memory, especially those she befriends or who have need of her. This is a product of living in her brother's shadow for most of her life and being the (slightly) less-favored child for her father. She is hellsbent on ensuring that no one is ever made to feel lesser or forgotten. Her grandfather would also never forgive her and she has made herself responsible for continuing his mission to help everyone in Eorzea and beyond.
What is your character afraid of and why? Does this fear affect the way they act in any way? Has it affected any major decisions they’ve made in their life?
Alisaie's greatest fear is failing those who rely on her or the missions she sets for herself. She is a young woman who still lives her life by comparison to others in some ways. Her grandfather and his legacy, her brother, the other Scions, and maybe especially the Warrior of Light. While she has a sharp wit and some cynicism, she is intensely compassionate and feels responsible for those she cares for and ones she's decided to help. Her fear of failing her friends and everyone else has led her to take significant risks in battle. She traded out her life as an Arcanist, which would have likely led to Scholar or some other healing class like her brother, and became a Red Mage, instead. She wanted to be able to dive head-first into battle to protect those she loved. Her mentor, X'rhun Tia, even notes that Alisaie had some trouble with balancing her destructive and healing magics. She took up an entirely new artform to ensure that she could fight for others in addition to healing. Because if she cannot fight for them, she may well fail them.
Will your character look back on their life with any regrets? What will they wish they could have done before they arrived in Limbo? What will they do if they get out?
Alisaie tries to live her life without regret, charging into every decision she makes with full heart, but there are a few choices she's made that she wishes she could have changed. If she had it to do over again, she would have stayed with her brother when they first came to Eorzea. They each had their trials, but she knows full-well that he came very close to death and absolute despair more than once on his journey. If the Warrior of Light had not been there to help him, she might have lost him before they could be reunited. He is the most precious thing in her life and even if he's aggravating and self-aggrandizing at times, she loves him dearly and would give her life to save his a hundred times over.
She also would regret (upon finding Thancred in Limbo) that she wasn't able to do more to protect the ones she loves. Where she is coming from, she is actively attempting to help rebuild the broken nation of Garlemald. There are so many people there in need and she knows she could help them if she were only alive and well to do so. The End of Days hit that place worse than many others, coming directly on the heels of the destruction of their entire government and cohesive nation. Alisaie considers her life to be one in service of others. Once out of Limbo, she would return to that purpose.
No rest for the wicked.
Abilities: Alisaie is a Red Mage. In Final Fantasy terms, this means she has both destructive (thunder, fire, air, and earth) and healing (cure and raising) magics that she channels through a focus, as well as the ability to enter into melee with her rapier. She uses her destructive magics to build up power that she uses to enchant her rapier for melee attacks that do extra damage to opponents.
While she is a powerful mage, Alisaie has no particularly game-breaking skills beyond her Verraise. This would typically allow her to recall someone from death/the brink of death when they are just died. In Limbo, this ability simply will not work as it should. She will be able to try it, casting the magic, but it will have no effect.
Alisaie also possesses a somewhat unique magic, the ability to summon a porxie-shaped familiar named Angelo. Angelo helps Alisaie to channel her healing magic to help those who have been tempered (had their magical energy unbalanced and become mind-controlled in some form or fashion). In Limbo, I would intend for Alisaie to be able to summon Angelo for companionship/comfort, but he wouldn't be able to really do anything for anyone as he is now. She would need to work on refining his abilities (and her own) if she wanted to have him help her combat any game-based mind-control mechanics that may arise.
Her weapon is not enchanted by itself, but she uses it and her focus to channel her magics. Even without her magic, though, Alisaie is a skilled swordswoman. The rapier is one of the few arenas in which her skills far surpass her brother's; the only other is swimming. Alisaie can swim like a fish and was blessed by the Kojin (a race of turtle-like people) to be able to breathe underwater. If her underwater breathing needs to be nerfed, she's still an excellent swimmer and would be able to hold her breath for a good four or five minutes while free-diving, if she took a mind to it.
Inventory: Her Endwalker outfit, as well as the rapier and focus that Urianger gave to her.
Eternal Reward: The return of every soul that was destroyed by Meteion's Song of Oblivion to the lifestream. That they might be reborn and not lost forever.
Goals/Ideas: Wither Alisaie goes, she finds a problem that needs fixing or people who need protecting. My main goal for Alisaie in this setting is for her to find a place outside of the shadow of her family and that will probably entail her taking up work as a body guard/security, at first. This is what she did when she was trapped on the First without a truly corporeal form. Her focus will likely fall upon the monsters in Limbo. When she learns they are ghosts that have turned, she will want to try to find a way to restore them. She's not foolish enough to feed herself to them, but she will work slowly on reworking Angelo to try to give them back their minds, if not their bodies. (This may never come to fruition for her, but it will be a goal to work toward.)
